Mormons, not Christians!
Sometimes it's just 'more better' to give a little perspective on things, instead of inveighing ignorantly. What I'm saying is that the proof of something is most often better left to the adherents of same:
I have problems understanding why Christians can conclude that devout Mormons may be fellow believers - in the context of biblical christianity.

A THOUGHT, ON SPEECH
Does it not amaze you that small children, and even adults, can string together a number of words, without having ever heard these words in that precise sequence - with the result that this sequential 'string' may contain a never before conveyed idea or thought?
It is in that sense that language is, per se, an ongoing miracle, IMO.
Just listen to yourself, and be amazed at the 'gift' of language. I know, I know, some have it as a more pronounced 'gift' than others, but it remains a linguistic miracle, regardless the normal progression, or intricacy, of the sequential progression of the words.
We are "fearfully and wonderfully made".
Don't save me a seat!
I'll be most conspicuous by my absence from this 'worship opportunity' - as depicted.

A Gold Bug - Perhaps

Another cancer patient
This is an article from The Wall Street Journal. It's the shorter version:
A Terminally Ill Harvard Law Prof Talks About Faith and the Future
Here is the audio of a fairly short 'testimony' that Stuntz 'gave' at his home church (I think). It's abt 16 1/2 minutes, and is extremely GOD glorifying. Please give it a listen:

Matt Chandler @ Together For The Gospel (T4G)
A few months ago, I posted a message from Matt Chandler, regarding his cancer. This is an update. The concerted prayer (led by John Piper), at the end of the video, forms an awesome example of the care and concern, and their common belief in the power of God, by these important leaders - regardless their divergent 'cessationist', and 'continuationist' theological perspectives. At end of day, we pray, and leave the results to God. Knowing He is able, we submit our wills to Him in the hope that he has guided our motivations and formed our petitions. "Lord, Thy will be done! Please heal Matt Chandler"!

THE best of John Piper
I think John Piper's inclusion of Rick Warren, in his 2010 National Pastor's Conference, is extremely problematic, at best. Having stated that, I think that this may be the best message from JP that I have heard - certainly, on this particular subject. It's an awesomely clear, and compelling, proclamation of the reality of Christ's sufficiency, as that relates to our justification before God. Carve out an hour, or so, and give this a careful listen::

JM
On Facebook, there is an app. that asks the question: Which Contemporary Preacher are You? I 'panned-out' as John MacArthur. I have to say: he would not be my very most favorite preacher, but, hey, I could do/be a lot worse. I'm not saying he's bad, at all. Quite the contrary - I'm saying that, among contemporary preachers, there are a few that I would 'prefer to be'. He's okay - no, he's great. Just not AS great as some (very few) others, IMO.
Anyway, here's a JM quote that I think is very much 'to the point', particularly as it relates to "contemporary preacher(s)".
“Pragmatism is the notion that meaning or worth is determined by practical consequences …the belief that usefulness is the standard of what is good. To a pragmatist…if a technique or course of action has the desired effect, it is good. If it doesn’t seem to work, it must be wrong.”

Defining, not Assuming, the gospel
Preaching from Colossians 1:13-23, Chandler challenges us to clearly define the Gospel. This message was preached for the 2010 20/20 collegiate conference at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Chandler, who is in the middle of chemotherapy for brain cancer, prerecorded this message.

All I have is Christ
Hopefully, I will, at a future date, comment on this apparent exception to a more conservative, more staid perspective that I have adopted. Considering that I am a refugee from the machinations and manipulations of charismania, this is a concession that I gladly make, within a proper and prescribed context, IMO.

Considering the culture of Christmas
R. Scott Clark is Professor of Church History and Historical Theology at Westminster Seminary California, author, and Associate Pastor at Oceanside United Reformed Church (Carlsbad, CA)..He comments, via his podcast, on a radio show out of Chicago: The Heidelcast Learns from Steve Dahl. On that webpage, mouse-over Heidelcast Jan 1 2010, and click play, on the player.
Dr. Clark rather gets to the heart of a lot of contemporary evangelical emphases. He urges the necessity for focusing upon "law and gospel" in evangelistic endeavors. It should be an eye-opener for churches, and individuals, that hope to provide effective means for the conversion of unbelievers.
